CHANEL IMAN IN STROBE LIGHTS AND NEON

Supermodel Chanel Iman Hops Off the Runway and Onto the Stripper's Pole

Under the hypnotic spell of strobe lights and neon lasers, Chanel Iman seduces in a bold new short by husband-and-wife duo Dusan Reljin and Hilde Pettersen Reljin. Chanel Rising came about after a chance conversation with the part-Korean African-American model, who has graced the cover of Harper’s BazaarElle and i-D among others, revealed that pole dancing was her favorite new hobby. Intrigued by her admission, Norwegian photographer Dusan asked if he and his wife could film her in action and capture her personal interest in the exercise craze taking over New York. Having previously shot Iman for ItalianVogue and Victoria’s Secret, the duo enlisted a special effects lighting team for the voyeuristic personal portrait. “We wanted all the colors to be very primary, saturated and strong, so that the whole thing would be very powerful,” explains Dusan. “Even though she is doing something very exotic and visual, the color schemes that we used make her part of the environment.” Recently appearing in Usher’s new “Dive” video, Iman has just launched her backpack design for the Runway to Win collection supporting President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

LI WEI

Chinese artist Li Wei sticks the fork quite literally into Lake
Geneva. The fork was erected in the lake to commemorate the 10th anniversary of a local museum dedicated to food. And in case you're thinking this has been Photoshopped, it hasn't: this really is Wei high up on the fork.
Prada Marfa, a permanently installed sculpture by artists ELMGREEN and DRAGSET, is located in the middle of the desert, northwest of Valentine, Texas, just off U.S. Route 90. The installation was established in October 2005 and intended to never be repaired, so it might slowly degrade back into the natural landscape.

In the translucent LA dusk we discover four women living very different lives. The camera follows each as they wind down their working days, their four stories weaving together as each prepares for their evening. Shot by Iranian-American screenwriter and director, Massy Tadjedin, with a stellar international cast, Aubrey Plaza, Gemma Arterton, Patricia Clarkson and Rinko Kikuchi, culminating in a gripping cameo performance by rising songstress, Zola Jesus. "We make our faces, our suits, our selves just a little more ready for wherever it is we're going. Fashion is never just the clothes. It's our mood, our excitement for something, our expectations, our attitudes, our outlooks. Managing those is often what getting ready is all about and that's what our short tries to capture." Massy Tadjedin The four women quietly take part in their private acts of preparation, but the transformation is also psychological, as they take stock of the day and mentally prepare for the evening ahead. It's Getting Late is the fourth film in Miu Miu's series of short films, the Women's Tales, by leading female directors, Zoe Cassavetes, Lucrecia Martel and Giada Colagrande. Each film explores the feminine love affair with Miu Miu through the lens of their diverse sensibilities.
